Rustic Enchantment

On October 14, 2017, I did an absolutely gorgeous wedding that I would describe as Rustic Enchantment. I was there bright and early, day of the wedding, to make sure that we could get everything set up and organized, in time for the event to follow. Of course, with every event/wedding, there is going to be some kind of something that “goes wrong”. But we will get to that later.

I greeted the bride and her bridesmaids, as we all arrived at the Weston Red Barn Farm. They went into the bridal suite, to get their hair and makeup ready, and I went around the reception space to start ironing table cloths, gathering all the decor for the tables, and placing everything where it needed to go, with some help of course! Monett’s parents and my brother-in-law were very helpful, as we made everything look perfect!

Remember the something that “goes wrong” that I was talking about earlier? Well it started pouring outside. Why is this so bad, you might ask? We were supposed to have an outside ceremony, in the apple orchard. It was going to be gorgeous and romantic and……well we had to make other arrangements that were gorgeous and romantic. So, I worked my magic and took pictures of two different options that we could do for the ceremony, to make sure that Monett had a less-stressful adjustment. It was clearly not what she wanted or preferred, but we came to an agreement on an indoor ceremony, where we had placed the head table. We moved the head tables to either side of the aisle, made a garland “arch” across the barn doors, and placed baby’s breathe throughout the aisle to add some charm. We were able to keep the reception tables where they were, for the ceremony, and that made for an easier transition into the reception than we had originally planned.

My favorite part of a wedding is watching the groom, as his bride comes down the aisle towards him. No matter if you have had a first look, prior to the ceremony, or whether this is the first time you are seeing each other all day. It is the true love and admiration that the groom shows, when looking into his bride’s eyes. Ronald showed pure love, joy, and admiration as he watched Monett come down the aisle to him. Their wedding was full of unconditional love and devotion to each other. This could not have been a better day!

Seeing my couples look so happy, on their wedding day, reducing their stress levels, and being their for them is what I do best and what I look forward to. All the hard work that goes into planning and coordinating a wedding (if you can even call it work!), really does pay off when I get to experience the moments they share on their big day. I could not be happier for Monett and Ronald! I am truly grateful that you picked Mak Wutke Events to plan and coordinate your wedding. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Spring Elegance

June 1, 2019. It was absolutely gorgeous, from the venue (Tobacco Barn Farm) to the people who were apart of it. It started off with setting the venue up. The string lights that strung along the rafters so perfectly, the simplistic yet elegant centerpieces, the rustic wagon in the corner for the cake and tiered stand for the giant, luscious cupcakes, and the extra pops of floral swags on the arbor. Everything was coming together so amazingly well.

JoHannah and her girls showed up with their dresses and shoes in tow. We unloaded the alcohol for the bar, the cupcakes for the wagon, and the flowers for the wedding party. I couldn’t help but feel extra special, when the mother of the groom came to me and let me know that JoHannah had gotten me a corsage to wear. Nobody had done that for me before and it was a very thoughtful touch, that quickly made the day even better. It just showed me how appreciative they were of me and all the hard work I had put into the planning process and day of execution.

The rest of the wedding party arrived, along with the photographer, and before we knew it “getting ready” pictures were getting wrapped up and it was time for them to line up to walk down the aisle. JoHannah had decided that she didn’t want Corey to see her, until she was walking down the aisle towards him. So I made sure to have Corey and the officiant walk out, before having JoHannah and her dad stand in line with the rest of the wedding party.

The barn doors slid open as the first bridesmaid and groomsmen started the processional. As the flower girl and ring bearer walked down the aisle, we quickly closed the barn doors. We wanted a dramatic exit for the bride, of course! I asked JoHannah if she was ready. As she smiled, took a deep breathe, and said yes, we opened the barn doors for the last time. She took those steps towards her future husband one at a time. Walked with grace, smiled with fear of nothing, and glowed because she was having the best day. The day that she was marrying the love of her life, her protector, and her biggest supporter.

As the recessional completed, the wedding party went with the photographer to take pictures and the guests went to the patio, for a nacho bar and drinks at the bar. Once the photos were done, everyone went inside for the wedding party introductions and dinner. The speeches to follow were great and the dancing was even better. There were so many sweet, emotional moments and so many fun, energetic moments. Everyone had a blast and it was very clear that JoHannah and Corey were beginning the greatest adventure of their lives yet.
